Career Guidance

Outpatient Program

Sober Techniques offers an Intensive Outpatient and a general Outpatient Program. Both of these programs utilize 12 step programs, group and individual counseling, along with a mentorship relationship. We are aware that addiction can often impede and challenge academic progress. Because of this, we have several options in place for students who desire to continue their education while going through an addiction treatment program. Sober Techniques offers one-on-one therapy sessions to support clients in reaching their academic goals. We also offer classes and individual help with academic counseling, life skills, assistance with college applications, tutoring/study time, transportation to and from classes, registration guidance, assistance with the job search, and simulated interviews. It is our goal not only to help clients acheive sobriety but to thrive on an academic or professional career path.

Academic Support

New Life Skills

Therapists adhere to the treatment plan created by the case manager and their client. Different therapeutic techniques are utilized to explore in depth into the client’s past as well as present and future goals. The main goal of the outpatient program is to reintegrate into society while focusing on employment or education.

Throughout treatment clients must participate in 6 hours of group therapy per week and attend 1 hour of private counseling. They are also able to meet with their case manager as needed. Sober Techniques is committed to neither over-treating nor under-treating our clients. We help our clients create goals for independence and reintegration into society and home life.

The main focus of this program is on budgeting practices, acquiring new life skills, sharpening resumes, and learning to manage the everyday stressors of life while remaining sober. The outpatient program at Sober Techniques is perfect for clients who are looking to move to California. There are over 3,000 local 12-step group meetings per week in the area. This program is designed for those who have their own car or are comfortable utilizing local transit options to commute to work or school. We help clients build fellowship within the local community of recovery.

Progress Letters

The program director and experienced staff at Sober Techniques are available to write to judges, probation officers, parole officers, and court systems to inform them about the progress the client has made while in recovery. They can also go over the evaluations, therapy, and testing results that each client has completed.
